Hola!! - Part 2: The Arrival!

Hola Mis Amigos!
So we finally had Zihua in our sights! "The Journey" we had taken, made "The Arrival" that much sweeter!
The bay in the center is where we were headed!

When we landed at the airport, I felt the need to pinch myself to make sure it was real! We were so excited! It didn't even really phase us that our luggage had not made it there with us. We were just glad to be in Zihuatanejo finally...

We arrived at the resort & it was amazing!! Take a look at our views & the room we had...

Once we got settled, we went down for lunch at the Surf Club by the pool & enjoyed the surroundings. We had some fabulous sunset dinners with amazing views! The first of which was Sunday night for our Romantic Dinner on the beach. It is set up by the resort & was far more than what we expected! I felt like I was in a fairytale movie! I don't know how Jarrod will top this for the next anniversary! One of my bags had arrived just before dinner and thankfully had my toiletries & something to change into for dinner, but Jarrod wasn't so fortunate...

The next day we took a trip into town to buy a few things since the rest of our luggage still had not arrived; this was day 3 of Jarrod sporting his travel cloths. (I don't think he'll be wearing that shirt for a while). We also went to the grocery store, which I always think is so fun in other countries! I love seeing how different cultures have different brands & how the store is set up. We experienced that with buying bread (see pics & captions below). When we arrived back to the resort that afternoon, we saw our bags sitting at the reception waiting on us! What a relief! Then we went down and enjoyed massages at the spa on the beach. They were so cheap that I did a couple throughout the week...

Tuesday, we got up bright and early for our deep sea fishing excursion. We caught 10 fish, but most were very small. Jarrod was hoping for a sailfish or mahi mahi, but the day was still fun & got to see the sunrise...

Wednesday, we caught a taxi with some friends at the resort who were going on the same snorkel excursion we were and headed down to the 80 foot catamaran. The snorkeling wasn't that great due to the high tides, but we still had a great time riding on the boat...

Thursday thru our extended departure on Saturday, we did a lot of relaxing on the beach...

It was a wonderful vacation! A lot of my spanish started coming back, surprisingly, over the course of the trip, but I still can't hold a conversation. Jarrod & I think we may invest some time in getting more fluent in Spanish. It was funny though b/c when we arrived back to the states, we kept catching ourselves wanting to say Hola! and Gracias! It was especially funny when we stopped for sushi on the way home Saturday night b/c I think our Asian waitress would have looked at us slightly funny, "who are these gringos speaking spanish to an Asian?" LOL

Birthday Celebrations

We began the celebration at noon on Thursday when Jarrod came home for lunch to watch March Madness games. We had cupcakes & he opened his gifts. That night we went out to dinner at Eddie V's which we both gave a 5-star rating! Everything was excellent including the amazing Bananas Foster dessert! Then Friday night we went out to dinner at Kona Grill in the Domain with our Realife Group from Church since Aaron shared the same bday as Jarrod. After dinner, we hung out at this little Chocolate Coffee bar place in the Domain.

Valentine Breakfast for Dinner

This year we stayed in and had pancakes for Valentines Day. It was relaxing & definitely better than fighting the crowds at all the restaurants. We went out the night before to one of our favorite sushi places in Austin called Tomo. We have sort of made it a tradition of staying in on Valentines Day & have had heart-shaped pancakes for dinner both times that we have celebrated in town. On the other years, we have traveled to Napa Valley so I told Jarrod that next year is our Napa Valley year if we want to keep to this tradition. We'll see if he goes for it! ;)

The middle one is supposed to be a heart
